LONDON, Aug. 6 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:
The charitywas set up toprovide community transport and allied training for people in Merseyside and surrounding areas who need such services because of age, sickness, disability,povertyor lack of adequate and safe public transport.
The Commissionhas opened a statutory inquiry into the charityas it hasidentifiedgovernance andfinancial managementconcerns.Theseinclude that thecharityappears to havetoo few trustees, in breach of its governing document, andthatit has notcomplied withstatutory accounting requirementsand hasexpenditurethatdoes notseem toalign withitsobjects.
The inquiry will examine the extent to which the trustees are complying or havecomplied withtheir legal duties in respect of the administration,governanceand management of the charity, withparticular regardto:

whether the trustees havecomplied withthe charity's governing document and that charity funds have been applied only in furtherance of the charity's objects
*
whether the charity's financial controls and governance arrangements are adequate
*
whether inaccurate or misleading information has beensubmittedto the Commission
*
whether there has been misconduct,mismanagementor misappropriation of charitable funds
Thescope of the inquirycan be extendedifadditionalregulatory issuesemerge.
It is the Commission's policy, after it has concluded an inquiry, to publish a report detailing the issues examined, any action taken, and the inquiry's outcomes.
