LONDON, Nov. 17 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:
The Matt 6.3 Charitable Trustwas registered with the Commission in 1998 andhaspurposes of advancing and promoting the Christian faith.
In October 2024, theregulatorbecame awareofseriousconcerns aboutgovernance failings and unauthorised paymentsat the charity.
Thecharity's advisors told thetrusteesthey mustcease all unauthorised payments to connected parties and appoint an independent boardof trustees.However,somepayments continued to bemadeand the charity hasso farnotrecruitedanyindependenttrustees.
The charity's latest accounts weresubmitted123 days lateandqualified,asthe auditorhadconcernsover the charity's governance.
Theregulatorhas now escalated its engagement with the charity to a statutory inquiry. Thiswill examine the extent to which the trustees arecomplying withtheir legal duties in respect to the administration,governanceand management of the charity, and in particular:
* management of conflicts of interest and private benefit
* whether the charity hasappropriate policiesand procedures in place
* the extent to which the trustees havecomplied withpreviously issued professional advice.
The Commission may extend the scope of the inquiry ifadditionalregulatory issuesemerge.
It is the Commission's policy, after it has concluded an inquiry, to publish a report detailing the issues examined, any action taken, and the inquiry's outcomes.
