LONDON, Aug. 14 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:
Local authorities(LAs)across the UK can now access the Local Authority Payments (LAPs) service, a new digital service developed by PackUKon behalf of the fourUKnations.
The service willhelplocalauthoritiesto securelyaccess and manage information related to their Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging grant payments.
What LAPs does
LAPsservice provides a single, trusted place for local authorities to:
* access and download notices of assessment, grant determinationlettersand remittance documents
* review and confirmgrant payment detailsand request changes
* raise queries and request support
* enrol and manage authorised users within their authority
LAPsdoesnot calculate,processortransmitpayments.Thereare no changes to the way EPR for packaging grant payments are distributed.
Developed with local authorities
The LAPs service has been shaped through engagement with local authorities, and throughout June and July 2026a group ofauthorities from across the UKtested LAPswithfeedbackhighlighting ease of use and ability to access grant documents in one place.
The rollout of LAPs to local authorities across the UK marks a significant milestone in the delivery of modern digital services, improving access to grant payment information and supporting engagement with local authorities.
What local authorities need to do
Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of each local authority will be invited to access LAPs on behalf of their organisation.
Once the CEO grants access to relevant users, authorised users can manage access and view grant related information through the service.
A Head of Finance must be registered to confirm details used forEPR for packaginggrantpayments.
Support and guidance
Local authorities can also access guidance and support on their EPR for packaging grants through the service.
