LONDON, Jan. 19 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:
Chief of Defence Staff,Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard KnightonKCB ADC FREnghas appointedLieutenantGeneralEldon Millar CVOMBE theUK Military Representative to NATOand the European Union, replacing LieutenantGeneralSir Ian Cave KCB, who is retiring after almost 40 years in the British Army.LieutenantGeneralMillar will start the role on20January 2026.
LieutenantGeneralMillarstarted his career in the Royal Engineers, serving across Defence andspecialising in Explosive Ordnance Disposal. He has served on several NATOoperationsfrom the Balkans to the Middle East,as well asinjoint assignments in the Ministry of Defence.
In his last roleasDeputyCommander of NATO's Rapid Deployable Corps-Italy and the NATO Allied Reaction Force, Lieutenant General Millarplayed a vital leadership role inNATO's ForceStructureand SACEUR's operational command.
