LONDON, Feb. 3 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:

Lutterworth Athletic Football Clubwasregisteredin2017to promote community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of people in Lutterworth,inLeicestershire,primarily through local community football.

The Commission's concerns first arose after the charity was identified as repeatedly non-compliant with its filing duties.

The charity entered the regulator'sdoubledefaulter class inquiry in 2024 afterfailing to submitaccounts for 2022 and 2023.Whilst the charitysubmittedthese accounts during the class inquiry,thecharityagain defaultedon itsaccounts for 2024whichremainsignificantly overdue.

The regulatorhasescalated its engagement bylaunchingastandalonestatutory inquiryinto the charityafter bank analysisidentifieda number ofadditionalconcerns.

The inquiry will examine the extent to which the trustees are complying or havecomplied withtheir legal duties in respect of the administration,governanceand management of the charity, withparticular regardto:

the trustees' compliance with the statutory accounting and reportingresponsibilities

*

the financial controls andfinancial managementof thecharity.

*

the trustees' compliance with thecharity's governing document.

*

whether there has been any unauthorised private benefit to the trustees and/orconnected parties including whether conflicts of interest have beenproperlymanaged.

Thescopeoftheinquirymaybeextendedifadditionalregulatoryissuesemerge.

ItistheCommission'susualpolicy, after it has concluded an inquiry, to publish a report detailing the issues examined, any action taken, and the inquiry's outcomes.
