LONDON, June 22 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO)has today announced its investigation intoInternet Mobile Communications Limited (IMC), acollapsedUK technology companythatrananinternationalplatformsellingtelecom servicesfor over 12 years fromits base inChelmsford, Essex.

At its peak, IMCoperatedaround the world, processing millions of internet telephone minutes and SMS transactions annually,presenting itself asone of the largest virtual telecommunications marketplaces of its kind.The companyabruptlycollapsed in 2024, leaving its creditors in debt.

This sophisticatedinvestigation concernsallegations of suspectedfraud, false accounting,and money laundering.For operational reasons, this activity has been kept covert until now.

Earlier this month,the SFOconducted an interview under caution of aman in hissixtiesas part of itsongoinginvestigation.

The SFO is workingalongsidetheDistrict Attorney's Officeof New York, which is conducting a parallel investigation.
